There are 20 NITs now, most of them established in between 1959~1965 located in different parts of the country. These institutes have great infrastructure, support from govt. and autonomy. If you have no GATE scores and would definitely want to go for higher studies i sugget you to think about studying abroad too. There are lots of good universities all over the world specially if you an average student should try Master of Engineering programs in Germany, France and other European countries, as Education is free and you get good scholarships there, you can also consider master degree admissions in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and US. Getting admission in MS same as M.Tech or Master degrees courses is easier than getting in IITs. On the same time These universities give you good facilities for research and development. Usually Master degree in Computer Science or Master degree in Electrical, Electronics have good findings and support many students. Wish you a great luck with admissions.

Hi Everyone,
I have just read everyone’s post. I am here to tell you about the post graduate(MSc, Mtech, M Pharm and ME) scenario at BIT Mesra. I have completed my post graduation from here. In one word it is ‘WORST’ from placement point of view. If you are looking for a job after your post graduation, please dont risk your career by doing any of the above 4 courses in any stream from here. I am sure you will get a better scope else where. Though i got placed on campus in a MNC but I know what i had been through and the attitude of the training and placement department especially the present placement officer toward a PG guy. Many eligible people do not land up with a job and become frustrated. The placement officer and the administration is only concerned with the ranking of the institute which is largely dependent on the placements of the BE people and to some extent of the MCA people. Even the postgraduate people are not allowed to sit for the companies by the placement department even when the HR people have no restriction. This is my personal experience. I am not going into detail since it is a public community.

I obtained CS(IS) in NITK thru common counselling……….now there is a vacant seat available for CS in NITK………there is provision to apply for branch change…..so i m in dilemma to accept the CS(IS) branch in MTech……or to go n apply for CS branch………..which is best among CS and IS ??pl do reply asap……
Rashmi: CS is preferred over IS, but both are good courses. Whatever you take keep working hard and make good percentage in M.Tech that will help you the most. Good luck ahead.
