IIT Ranking presents the list of the top IITs based on the closing JEE Advanced ranks, and GATE cutoff scores admitted into those IITs. Ranks obtained by the aspirants in Advanced JEE are considered for admission into B.Tech in IITs. And GATE cutoff data for M.Tech admissions is combined with JEE Advanced cutoffs to give a better ranking. Using cutoffs for ranking institutes gives a great absolute way to rank the institutes rather than some relative criteria (such as the area of the institute, gym, labs, and others) that neither can be measured nor of any interest to the aspirants or their parents.
Most importantly it gives a statistical-based way to assess institutes. Being a computer science guys, we would prefer to make decisions based on data. For the ranking of IITs we have considered cutoffs for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) as most of the IITs offer these branches. Also, M.Tech cutoffs in these branches are used to strengthen IIT Rankigs
