NIT Ranking 2020 is based on JOSAA cutoffs (B.Tech Cutoffs) and CCMT Cutoffs (M.Tech Cutoffs) for current year. Its logical to rank institutes based on the ranks admitted than any relative criteria which can neither be measured nor of any interest to the students and parents.
We have been collecting cutoff information from official sources for a long time now. Further, the information gathered is organized in a way to prepare College Predictor, that provides the students their expected stands based on the ranks obtained. That also helped us to figure out what is student choice when it comes to choosing a place to study.
For NIT ranking, cutoff data which is acquired from official sources provides a statistical base to assess institutes and rank them accordingly. Being a computer science guy, I would prefer to make decisions based on data.
We have considered 4 common departments for NIT ranking 2020 which includes, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Basic reason considering 4 department is reduce bias and error in NIT ranking.
