A month long work, collecting data and analyzing, made it possible for me to write this post about Best or Top Engineering colleges in Karnataka. I with another member collected data from different sources about every engineering college affiliated to VTU. The ranking made is based on infrastructure, Faculty, research, and engineering degrees offered by the college. Colleges offering master degrees in engineering were given preference because usually, AICTE inspects to ensure that these colleges have suitable faculty and sufficient infrastructure to run master degree programs in engineering. You can look into KCET cutoffs which is one of the criteria using KCET Cutoffs, Closing Ranks and college predictor.
Before going to details of Karnataka ranking, I would recommend you to look at Engineering Courses: Future, Prospects, Institutes, and Studies in India, and Which is the best engineering course, may be useful. If you already graduated and looking for M.Tech you must read a set of must of reading articles for M.Tech aspirants.

I got Reva ITM.This is one of the best college in B’lore.I’m very lucky.
I think most colleges in Bangalore enjoy higher preference and hence ratings owing to the reputation of the City. Some of the colleges in Top 10 have pretty mediocre teaching faculty to say the least. I believe that NIE Mysore, SJCE Mysore and GIT Belgaum are leagues ahead of some of the other colleges in the list.

Please provide useful and correct information.. In all india ranking NIE(55) and SJCE(62) are ranked above BIT(67) and MSRIT(71). And UVCE(41) is ranked above all of them mentioned.Your survey is useless.Please look into placements too other than academics.Getting placed in an IT company is no big deal.True value of college is understood when it can place you in a core company..Which fortunalely NIE and SJCE does.As for UVCE i have no much idea.

@aman: rnsit is also a college. i do agree with u that sir mvit and dayanand sagar should be in the top ten, but there is no way that sit tumkur is not comparable to the two. Sit tumkur is in the very same league.

Steps to change the college :
1. There should be one more person like u who is willing to change from the college which you want.
2. If you get such kind of person. You both should take no objection letter from your respective colleges and just change the college.
3. Then u have to under go few new formalities in the NEW college which you are going to.

Being to the intellectual community – I personally feel that St Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore is quite under rated. no other other college in sothern india including NITs can match us in extra cirricular activities. Although i got an average rank of 3899 in cet 2008 – I’m satisfied with all major ascepts here except reputation to some extend…………. also just 10 min from my home………..i don’t find any major benifits of leading a hostel life in Bangalore…………

M V J college of engineering was in top 20 in 2006.. so took that college it is already 29 years old,,,, and fails to get even 2 COMPANIES IN THE YEAR 2010 so please dont take it and put it in 180th rank,,

If you want to join a college just for enjoyment, you may follow this. Otherwise please dont. This is purely based on infrastructure. I’m pretty sure that they have not considered results and faculty.

hey who ever has made this ranking list, its better they completely recheck about what they have stated.. not only they have gone horribly wrong in giving proper ranking to engg colleges but also misguiding the ppl by stating some colleges to be in some other cities which is really not so(for ex they ve stated NIE to be in gulbarga but its actually in mysore)
