IIT Jammu M.Tech Admission 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu invites applications for admission in the M.Tech programme for the session 2021-22. For admission to M.Tech programmes, candidates need to register and fill out the application online only from 18th March 2022.
IIT Jammu applications have to be submitted Online only. The website for the online application is open from 18th March 2022.
Admission to the M.Tech programme of the Institute is open to all Regular applicants with assistantship through GATE. B.Tech students who graduated/graduating from IITs having a CGPA of 6.0 or 6.5 (out of 10) Sponsored applicants can also apply at IIT Jammu.

IIT Jammu M.Tech Admission 2022 Eligibility Criteria

M. Tech. Tunnel Engineering (Civil Engineering Department) | 1. For the General category candidates, the minimum requirement is 65% marks in aggregate/equivalent CGPA in B.E./B.Tech./AMIE Civil Engineering. 2. For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD candidates, relaxation of 5% or 0.5 CGPA of the above criterion is allowed. 3. The candidate must have a valid GATE scorecard with GATE paper code CE. 4. For Sponsored candidates, GATE qualification is not mandatory. Note: Candidates who fulfill the above criteria, will be called for written exam followed by interview. Only selected candidates who score above the cutoff marks in the written exam will be called for interview. The cutoff marks will be decided by the M.Tech. Selection Committee. Merely appearing for written exam will not guarantee a call for the interview. Based on the GATE score, performance in the written exam and interview, only the selected candidate will be communicated with an offer for admission in M.Tech. in Tunnel Engineering. |
M. Tech. Data Science (Computer Science and Engineering Department) | 1. Candidates should have qualified their qualifying degree (B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc.) in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics. The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with a minimum of 300 score (for SC/ST category the minimum is 200 score). Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Electronics Engineering (EC), Mathematics (MA), and Statistics (ST) would be the required subject specializations at the GATE examination. 2. Candidates who have qualified AMIE or Grad IETE qualifications will also be considered for admission based on their performance in AMIE/Grad IETE. Such candidates will have to complete 24 valid credits specified by concerned DRC/CRC/PEC along with a valid GATE score. Note: Above mentioned criterion is primary screening criterion and further technical round of test and/or interview will be conducted for selecting the candidates. |
M. Tech Information security (Computer Science and Engineering Department) | 1. Candidates should have qualified their qualifying degree (B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc.) in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics. M.Tech Communications and Signal Processing (Electrical Engineering Department) | 1. BE/B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Telecommunication / Electrical Engineering with first class throughout in education qualification. 2. A minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10.00 point scale in secondary (X) and senior secondary (XII) school examinations. 3. A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent will be given in either of secondary (X) or senior secondary (XII) school examinations. 4. The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with a minimum of 300 score (for SC/ST category the minimum is 200 score) with EC/EE/IN paper codes. Note: Candidates will be screened based on B.E/B.Tech marks and GATE score and will be called for a written test and/or interview. |
M. Tech Thermal and Energy System (Jointly offered by the Mechanical Engineering Department and Chemical Engineering Department) | 1. Candidates should have B.E./B.Tech/AMIE in Mechanical Engineering or in Chemical Engineering. 2. General category candidates should have minimum 65% marks in aggregate or minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale. Relaxation of 5% will be given to the SC/ST/OBC- NCL/PWD/EWS candidates. 3. Candidates should have valid score card of GATE qualified in either Mechanical Engineering (ME), or in Chemical Engineering (CH), or in Engineering Sciences (XE) papers. Candidates who appeared for the Engineering Sciences (XE) paper, should have written both Fluid Mechanics (XE- B) and Thermodynamics (XE-F) papers. |
M. Tech Computer Technology (Jointly offered by the Electrical Engineering Department and Computer Science and Engineering Department) Three Year Program in Research Assistant Category | 1. Candidates should have qualified their qualifying degree (B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc.)in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Information & Communication Technology/ Electronics Engineering/ Mathematics and Statistics/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics engineering. The candidates musthave a valid GATE Score and must have secured a minimum score of 300 (for SC/STcategory the minimum is 200 score) inthe Valid GATE scorecard. Note: Above mentioned criterion is primary screening criterion and further technical round of test/interview will be conducted for selecting the candidates. |
M.Sc. and M.S.(R) Chemistry (Chemistry department) | The M.Sc.& MS (R) Chemistry course in Chemistry will provide with the necessary fundamental knowledge in both, theory and laboratory practical levels followed by cutting edge and related inter-disciplinary areas of research. M.Sc. Chemistry is a 2-year master program (77 credits) and MS (R) Chemistry program (107 Credits) will be an option up to five students of the class of M.Sc. Chemistry students. Essential Criteria: 1. For B.Sc./B.S Students, Chemistry for at least two years/four Semesters 2. B.Tech/B.E students of any specialization with four core courses in chemistry 3. The admissions to this PG program will be done through the Joint Admission (JAM) entrance examination from 2022-23 4. Scholarship will not be provided for MSc Students. 5. IIT Jammu has limited hostel facility for the students of this programme and is not guaranteed. |
M.S.(R) Physics (Physics Department) | The 3 year MS (R) Physics programme will be offered in 3 different streams/specializations. 1. For B.Sc./B.S students, physics for at least two years/four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year/two semesters 2. For B.Tech/B.E students, four core courses in physics including Quantum mechanics, Classical mechanics and Electrodynamics 3. The admissions to this PG program will be done through the Joint Admission (JAM) entrance examination from 2022-23 4. This is a three year Master’s programme and scholarship will be provided only in the third year. 5. IIT Jammu has limited hostel facility for the students of this programme and is not guaranteed. |
