National Institute of Technology Surathkal was established in year 1960 for excellence in education and research. It is one among the grimier engineering schools in the country. NITK Surathkal is one of few universities in the world that has of a private beach, including a lighthouse. The campus is covers an area of about 295 acres (1.19 km2) and is covered by lush greenery in many areas. Its a great place to study, except little humid in summers.

Eligibility:
Admission to a M.Tech. Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying Examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of atleast 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme). However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 5.0 or 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates.

Selection will be strictly based on GATE Score. In case GATE qualified candidates are not available, admission may be given to other candidates on the basis of marks secured in qualifying degree and a written and /or oral examination.
