A wonderful news for students seeking M.Tech (Master of Technology) admission in 2011. Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Kolkota is inviting applications for admission test to M.Tech Computer Science and other courses.
Let me give a little introduction to ISI as most of the students never heard about it. ISI is one of the top mathematical research institute in the nation with the status of Institute of National Importance. It has the best faculty in all divisions, I also worked there for some time ;). Most of the faculty members have great number of publication in world class journals and also serving editorial broad of many journals. A degree from ISI may open doors of higher learning in any top university of the world. It has given students to Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford University.
The institute has very good industry interface with all top research organizations in computer science like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL, IBM and others visit for recruitment. It offer only one M.Tech program in the area of Computer Science and Quality Management, both the course are offered at Kolkata. The details are as follows.
M.Tech in Computer Science
Eligibility: Master’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics/ Physics/ Electronic Sciences/ Computer Science/Computer Applications/Information Technology or, (ii) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE or, GRAD-IETE or, DOEACC ‘B’ Level). Stipend Rs. 5000/- per month.
A candidate with a valid GATE score above a threshold (to be decided by the Selection Committee) in his/her own subject would be directly called for interview. However, such candidates are required to apply in the prescribed application form.
M.Tech. in Quality, Reliability and Operations Research
Eligibility: Master’s degree in Statistics or Master’s degree in Mathematics with Probability and Statistics as major subjects or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent or PG diploma in SQC & OR from the Indian Statistical Institute and (ii) Knowledge of Mathematics at graduate level and knowledge of Physics and Chemistry at Higher Secondary level. Stipend Rs. 5000/- per month. (Offered at Kolkata).
