IISc Bangalore M.Tech Admission 2025-Dates, Eligibility, Fee, Selection Process

IISc Bangalore M.Tech Admission Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore offers M.Tech admission for the academic year for the various streams of the M.Tech program through their scores in GATE. The application form for M.Tech Admission will start from Feb.

IISc Bangalore M.Tech Admission applications have to be submitted Online only. The website for the online Application is open from Feb.

The Institute offers course programs based on coursework. Master of  Technology (M Tech), Master of Design (M Des), and Master of Management (M Mgt). The Institute admits about 400 students every year to its course programmes. Candidates can choose to apply to a maximum of 5 disciplines from the M Tech and M Des programmes.

Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) provides a common platform for the candidate to make the most preferred choice for admission into M.Tech Programmes through GATE in participating institutions (IISc & IITs) Admission offers for M Tech programmes of IISc for all the above disciplines and also for M.Des. (from GATE stream) will be made on COAP. Candidates will have to register on COAP and must update the COAP registration number on Applicant’s Interface.

Eligibility IISc Bangalore M.Tech Admission

The following categories of candidates are eligible to apply for admission to course programmes

  • Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Electronics followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE.
  • Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture/Design (for the M Des programme only)
  • Master’s degree holders in Science including Physics with Electronics/ Instrumentation/Geology/ Computer Applications/ Physical Sciences/ Mathematical Sciences as applicable to individual departments offering M Tech programmes.

Note: All the candidates should qualify in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2018 /2019 / 2020) for  M Tech, GATE or in the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2020) for M Des, and GATE 2018/2019/2020 or CAT 2020/GMAT  for M Mgt, and possess the valid score as on 1st August 2020.

IISc Bangalore M.Tech Selection Procedure

Candidates will be shortlisted for a design aptitude test and an interview based on the GATE / CEED score as per the schedule given below table. Selection will be based on the performance in GATE / CEED, design aptitude test and interview. The announcement of the results and issue of admission of offers for candidates shortlisted on GATE score will be through COAP, and for those based on CEED, directly by the Institute. Therefore, the candidates with GATE are required to register on COAP
