Usually in IITs direct admission after B.Tech is bit tough and time dependent. They will ask you to appear for a written test followed by interview. Imagine if they find a candidate with M.Tech degree who is in line with you for PhD admission the competition would be higher and he will have an advantage.

      You can try few things.
      1. Get a clear understanding of one subject. You should be able to address tough topics in that.
      2. Target a prof and his work in IITM. Read papers from his lab and understand what he is doing. If possible visit him and try to do a project with him.
      3. Apply other IITs as well and have a GATE preparation intact.
      4. Try Jan admission as GATE top qualified competition is less during that time.

      Hope this is helpful.

      Good luck with phd admissions.

      Dear Tapatosh,

You can visit GATE organizing institute and see their RTI procedure. In most of of the IITs the procedure is rather simple. Write letter to Registrar with a 10 Rs stamp and ask them to post results back to you.

If they need some more info they will ask you to send other details.

Good luck with that : )

For full time PhD Indian Government gives scholarships. So consider it before making a call for converting full time to part time PhD.

      Hi there,

      1. Difference between Science and Engineering PhD?
For PhD remember your work matters more now as you already have a degree in engineering, you PhD would only add value to it. Yes if you have a science background, things are bit different in India but abroad rest is same.

      2. Will you be able to teach in IITs and NITs?

Yes you will be if you qualify the interview. As you have a basic degree in Engineering you can teach in any technical institute in India.

      A great question.

I consider doing individual degrees have advantage if you are sincere and ready to work hard.

For example if you are get into IITs for M.Tech you can target few of the top universities in the world for PhD. If you are not able to make it IITs for M.Tech integrated degree have a higher advantage.

Instead of an integrated PhD degree I would recommend you directly try PhD degree from IITs. Refer to below post for more details.

Huge opportunities are there for computer science students with a design degree. Especially in the areas of UI/UX you find a lot of great opportunities. Stay focus and crack CEED. Good luck
