Singapore Universities (NUS and NTU) MS Admission Based on GATE

Singapore Universities (NUS and NTU) MS admissions are done based on GATE scores too. After going through all the details from both universities I decided to make a detailed post for student looking for various opportunities abroad based on GATE score. Universities in Singapore consider GATE scores instead of GRE, thats big relief for someone not interested in going to US but can still take admission in top university in the world close to home. National Univeristy of Singapore (NUS) Admission Details Through GATE

NUS offer two types of MS programs, 1. Coursework based programme and 2. Research based programme. Indian students who want to apply through GATE are only eligible in Research based MS program and of course eligible or PhD. Follow the criteria and other details below.

Eligibility:
Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree with minimum 2nd class honours upper and the ability to pursue research in the candidate’s proposed field of advanced study.
Currently, the University is taking in more students who wish to work towards a Ph.D. degree.
Other general requirements are
A valid GRE/GMAT score is required for applicants who are not graduates of the Autonomous Universities in Singapore, unless there is specific requirement stated in the School’s website for the respective programme. Test dates must be within 5 years or less from the date of your application.
Applicants from India may use the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering [GATE] score of at least 90th percentile in place of GRE. Test date must be within 3 years or less from the date of your application.
For applicants whose native language is not English, a good TOEFL score is required. Test dates must be within 2 years or less from the date of your application. IELTS may be submitted in place of TOEFL.
A photocopy of the GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS test scores should be attached to the application. Official original test scores are not required at the application stage.

Duration:
Master degree 1 year ~ 3 years
PhD degree 2 years ~ 5 years

Conditional Admission:
All the candidates have to qualify an examination or exercise in a specific time to confirm their candidature.
The normal timeline for confirmation of candidature is 1 year for Masters, 1.5 years for full-time PhD and up to 2 years for part-time PhD from the commencement of candidature.

Fee:
For graduate studies fee is approximately $16,700 to $30,350 (Singapore Dollars)

Scholarship:
There are few scholarships available for NUS admits such as Common Wealth Scholarship, NUS Research scholarship, Lee Kong Chian Scholarships and others. These scholarships cover Tuition Fee and pay a stipend of around $1000 ~ $3500 based on your admit degree.

Admission Details For Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Through GATE

NTU is another top university in Asia located in Singapore. It is known for its research and higher education across the globe. This university also has strong ties with industry both in Singapore and abroad.
For more details for admission into Nanyang Technological University please read the following details.

Eligibility:
For Grad Diploma and Master’s programmes by coursework, the minimum required GPA is 2.5.
For Master’s by research, the rminimum required GPA is 3.0.
For PhD, the minimum required GPA is 3.5
