After a careful survey and study I made a list of private engineering colleges and state universities that offer M.Tech or MS in West Bengal. As AICTE is strict in giving permission to run Masters in Engineering program, these colleges can also be considered as top engineering colleges in West Bengal.
For Admission into these colleges in M.Tech, please search for the contact details and call them directly. Please do not hesitate to call them for admission information. Mostly they give an ad in local news papers for admissions to M.Tech program.
You may find West Bengal state universities added to list as they also admit student on their own test or interview, definitely they give preference to gate qualified candidates. But mostly non gate students will also get chance in these universities.

Zahid Sir, last yr in the BENGAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE, SHIBPUR they have opened a new specialisation under the ETC department, “Communication Engineering and Signal Processing”. I myself am pursuing this specialization and hence, this info is cent percent correct… 🙂

Central Governmenet have alraedy sanctioned Rs 15 Crores for Financial year 2010-2011 for Conversion of BESU into Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology ( IIEST ), Kolkata. Earlier state Govt signed MoU with Central Govt. for conversion into IIEST.Now BESU is awaiting further order from Central Govt Ministry for Conversion into IIEST Shortly. IIEST will be exclusively for MTech/M.E. and Phd’s unlike IISc, Bangalore for basic and Applied Science.
