        Hello Zahid,

I wanted your suggestion on this topic of “PhD right after B.Tech”. (I have been selected at IITK for the this program.)

I did my B.Tech from NIT-xxx. The eligilbilty criteria for faculty positions (Associate Professor) in my institute is “First Class Post Graduates with Ph. D. in relevant discipline.”

So, does a student ending up with Ph.D. after B.Tech faces problems when going for career in academics in colleges that come under the purview of AICTE as AICTE faculty norms explicitly mention the following –

        Assistant prof – BE/BTech & ME/MTech with 1st class
Associate prof – Qualifications for assistant prof and PhD.

So, do you think employability would be risky if we don’t have an M.Tech degree and go for a Ph.D right after B.Tech?

I think once you have PhD you are well suited for any teaching position in India. If its from IITs then there is no question about it.

Few corrupt people can try to trick but simple though and RTI application at MHRD and take them to court. Mostly whole appointments will be canceled and done again.

This should not discriminate logically and legally : )

        Hope this helps.
