Course Objectives:
• To enable the student to gain knowledge in quantitative analysis, pretreatment, dyeing and printing of textile materials.
List of Experiments:
- Desizing of cotton fabrics
- Scouring of cotton yarn / fabric
- Peroxide bleaching of cotton yarn /fabric
- Dyeing of cotton yarn using reactive dyes (cold / hot brands)
- Dyeing of cotton yarn using Vat dyes
- Degumming and bleaching of silk yarn
- Dyeing of silk yarn with acid dyes / Reactive dyes
- Dyeing of polyester yarn using Disperse dye
- Printing of cotton fabrics with Pigments by Direct style using Blocks / screens
- Printing of polyester fabrics with Disperse dyes by Direct style using Blocks / Screens
- Determination of wash and rubbing fastness of dyed yarn/fabrics
- Printing of cotton fabric by resist style (Batik printing , tie and dye) using Reactive cold brand / colddyeing Vat dyes
- Determination of whiteness and yellowness index using computer color matching
Course Outcomes:
Upon the completion of this course the student will be able to,
- Desize, scour and bleach cotton yarn / fabric
- Dye different yarn / fabric with different types of colorants and determine the different fastness
- Print different fabric with different types of colorants by different styles
