- To make the students practically learn various fibre, yarn and fabric evaluation procedures to determine characteristics of fibres, yarn and fabric

- Fibre fineness, length and maturity
- Fibre trash content, Bundle fibre strength
- Sliver/roving/ yarn linear density
- Single yarn strength and Yarn Lea strength
- Yarn single and ply yarn twist
- Unevenness of yarn and assessment of yarn appearance
- Fabric tensile strength,
- Fabric tear and bursting strength
- Fabric flexural rigidity, bending modulus and crease recovery
- Drapeability, skew and bowness of fabric
- Fabric abrasion and pilling resistance
- Fabric air permeability
- Fabric weight, thickness and dimensional stability
- Seam strength and seam slippage
