Course Objective:
The course aims to,
- make the students aware of the various lab protocols
- make them aware of the safety measures involved while doing experiments
- equip the students to handle microbes confidently.

- Microscopy – Working and care of Microscope
- Microscopic Methods in the Study of Microorganisms., Microscopic identification of yeast/mould
- Staining Techniques Simple, Differential- Gram”s Staining
- Quantification of Microbes: Sampling and Serial Dilution; Bacterial count in Soil – TVC
- Effect of Disinfectants- Phenol Coefficient
- Antibiotic Sensitivity Assay
- Growth Curve in Bacteria
- Effect of pH, Temperature, UV radiation on Growth Bacteria
- Biochemical test for identification of E.coli, Bacillus

Course Outcome:
At the end of the course the students will be able to,
- know how to identify an organism by microscopic examination
