Course Objectives:
- To familiarize the undergraduate level students in the regular Image Processing Software.
Excercises:
- Image reading and writing
- Pre-processing techniques: radiometric correction
- Random and Periodic Noise removal
- Pre-processing techniques: Ground control and rectification
- Enhancements – histogram, filters
- Band ratioing and normalization – NDVI, SAVI & NDWI
- PCA
- Image fusion
- Classification -supervised &unsupervised
- Sub pixel classification
- Classification using Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic
- Accuracy assessment – correlation, RMSE & kappa
- Crop conditioning assessment/ inundation damage assessment/ forest fire/ change dynamic analysis
Course Outcomes:
On completion of the course, the student is expected to
- Enhance satellite imagery through filtering, band ratioing , PCA etc
- Georeference and project the satellite imagery
- Classify and assess accuracy of classification.
- Perform advanced classifier
- Carry out mini project in any of the application

- Number of i7 Computer system – 15 for 30 students (two students per system).
- Standard Satellite image processing software – 15 user licenses.
- Satellite data indifferent spatial resolution and corresponding Toposheets.
- A1size Scanner and Color plotter.
