Course Objectives:
- To provide hands on experience in calibration of flow meters, performance characteristics of pumps and turbines.

A. FLOW MEASUREMENT
- Bernoullis Experiment
- Calibration of Rotameter
- Flow through Orificemeter/Mouthpiece,
B. LOSSES IN PIPES
- Flow through Venturimeter and Notches
- Determination of friction factor in pipes.
- Determination of minor losses
C. PUMPS
- Characteristics of Centrifugal pumps
- Characteristics of Gear pump
- Characteristics of Submersible pump
- Characteristics of Reciprocating pump
Course Outcomes:
On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to
- Understand and Apply the concept of Bernoulli equation in fluid flow
- Calibrate the flow measuring devices in a pipe line/channel
- Measure friction factor in pipes and compare with Moody diagram
- Determine the performance characteristics of rotodynamic pumps.
- Determine the performance characteristics of positive displacement pumps.
