SUSTAINABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT CHALLEGES 9 Definition of sustainability – environmental, economic and social dimensions of sustainability – sustainable development models – strong and weak sustainability – defining development millennium development goals – mindsets for sustainability: earthly, analytical, precautionary, action and collaborative- syndromes of global change: utilisation syndromes, development syndromes, and sink syndromes – core problems and cross cutting Issues of the 21 century -global, regional and local environmental issues – social insecurity – resource degradation -climate change – desertification.
