Course Objective:
- To enable the students to practically carryout pattern making and styling of men, women and children garments
- To get hand on experience in dart manipulations and draping method of pattern making.
List of Experiments:
- Measuring the Dress Form – male, female and child and formulating the measurement charts
- Drafting the basic blocks of male and female
- Drafting patterns of sleeve variations
- Drafting patterns of collars, cuffs variations
- Drafting patterns of pocket variations
- Dart manipulation of single darts using slash spread and pivotal techniques
- Dart manipulation of double darts using slash spread and pivotal techniques
- Graduated and radiating darts
- Asymmetric dart variations
- Basic bodice-front, back and skit patterns using draping technique
Course Outcome:
On completion of the course students are expected to
- Develop and understand standard measurement chart formulation
- Construction of basic blocks using drafting and draping techniques
- Patterns construction for different styles
- Dart manipulation techniques and its variations
- Method of solving fitting problems in patterns
