Unit II
SYNTHESIS OF NANOMATERIALS Bottom up and Top-down approach for obtaining nano materials – Precipitation methods – sol gel technique – high energy ball milling, CVD and PVD methods, gas phase condensation, magnetron sputtering and laser deposition methods – laser ablation, sputtering.
Unit III
NANO COMPOSITES Definition- importance of nanocomposites- nano composite materials-classification of composites-metal/metal oxides, metal-polymer- thermoplastic based, thermoset based and elastomer basedinfluence of size, shape and role of interface in composites applications.

Unit V
APPLICATIONS OF NANO MATERIALS Overview of nanomaterials properties and their applications, nano painting, nano coating, nanomaterials for renewable energy, Molecular Electronics and Nanoelectronics – Nanobots-Biological Applications. Emerging technologies for environmental applications- Practice of nanoparticles for environmental remediation and water treatment.
Course Outcomes:
- understand the basic properties such as structural, physical, chemical properties of nanomaterials and their applications.
- able to acquire knowledge about the different types of nano material synthesis
- describes about the shape, size,structure of composite nano materials and their interference
- understand the different characterization techniques for nanomaterials
