Barriers to implementing IWRM – Policy and legal framework – Bureaucratic reforms and inclusive development – Institutional Transformation – Capacity building – Case studies on conceptual framework of IWRM.

Course Outcomes:

On completion of the course, the student will be able to apply appropriate management techniques towards managing the water resources.

  1. Describe the context and principles of IWRM; Compare the conventional and integrated ways of water management.
  2. Discuss on the different water uses; how it is impacted and ways to tackle these impacts.
  3. Explain the economic aspects of water and choose the best economic option among the alternatives; illustrate the pros and cons of PPP through case studies.
  4. Illustrate the recent trends in water management.
  5. Understand the implementation hitches and the institutional frameworks.
