Automotive engines- External combustion engines -Internal combustion engines -classification of engines- SI Engines- CI Engines- two stroke engines -four stroke engines-construction and working principles – IC engine components- functions and materials -valve timing -port timing diagram- Injection system -Unit injector system- Rotary distributor type – Electronically controlled injection system for SI engines-CI engines-Ignition system – Electronic ignition system -Transistorized ignition system, capacitive discharge ignitionsystem.
