Course Objective:
- To determine the psychrometric properties, gas percentage in atmosphere.
- To study the principles and characteristics governing mine fans.
Experiments:
- Determination of psychrometric properties of air.
- Study of mine flame safety lamp, gas testing with flame safety lamp.
- Mine air sampling and detection of various mine gasses, like, methane, carbon monoxide (CO), etc.
- Determination of percentage of mine gasses using chromatograph and other methods.
- Measurement of cooling power by Kata thermometer.
- Study of installation of centrifugal flow fans.
- Study of installation and positioning of booster fan.
- Study of characteristics curve of different and its composition.
- Study of axial flow fan and fan characteristics.
- Study of central and boundary ventilation system.
- Study of pressure survey and quantity survey in mines using velometer, anemometer and barometer.
- Study of mine air-conditioning plant.
Course Outcome:
- The students will have knowledge on practical significance of a ventilation system in an underground mine environment.
- The students can handle some instruments and devices used in ventilation system.
