Course Objective:
- The main objective is to impart hands on training to the students in the fabrication of one or more component of a complete working model, which has been designed by them.
- The transfer of concepts studied in the Materials Science Programme to a practical application is important.
- Students get familiarized in the field of material synthesis or processing, metal joining or casting or forming, or mechanical behavior of materials or material characterization or material testing and analysis.
- The project can also focus on the selection and optimization of materials in design of on a purely material oriented project such as the development and characterization of an alloy.
- The students may be grouped in small groups and work under a project supervisor.
- The components to be fabricated may be decided in consultation with the supervisor and if possible with an industry.
- A project report to be submitted by the group, which will be evaluated by a Committee which will be constituted by the Head of the Department
