Course Objective:

The major objectives of this course is

To develop students” awareness – on psychology, learning behavior and usage of perception effectively.
To learn to use the various kinds of thinking in a formal context.
To critically evaluate content and comprehend the message on the bases of perception, personality and intelligence.

Sensory and Perceptual Processes
Some general properties of Senses: Visual system – the eye, colour vision – Auditory system -Hearing, listening, Sounds – Other senses – Selective attention; physiological correlates of attention; Internal influences on perception learning – set – motivation and emotion – cognitive styles; External influences on perception figure and ground separation – movement -organization – illusion; Internal- external interactions: Constancy – Depth Perception- Binocular and Monocular Perception; Perceptual defense and Perceptual vigilance; Sensory deprivation -Sensory bombardment; ESP – Social Perception.

Thinking, Problem-Solving and Decision Making
Thinking skills – Types of thinking skills – Concrete and Abstract thinking – Convergent and Divergent – Analytical and Creative thinking – Problem and Possibility thinking – Vertical and Lateral thinking – Problem solving skills – stages of problem solving skills – Decision making – intuition and reasoning skills – Thinking and language – The thinking process- concepts, problem solving, decision-making, creative thinking; language communication.
