Emr Interaction With Atmosphere and Earth Material
Standard atmospheric profile – main atmospheric regions and its characteristics – interaction of radiation with atmosphere – Scattering, absorption and refraction – Atmospheric windows – Energy balance equation – Specular and diffuse reflectors – Spectral reflectance and emittance -Spectroradiometer – Spectral Signature concepts – Typical spectral reflectance curves for vegetation, soil and water – solid surface scattering in microwave region.

Sensing Techniques

Course Outcome:

On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to

  1. understand the concepts and laws related to remote sensing
  2. understand the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with atmoshphere and earth material
  3. acquire knowledge about satellite orbits and different types of satellites
  4. understand the different types of remote sensors
  5. gain knowledge about the concepts of interpretation of satellite imagery
