Unit V

MODERN SYSTEM FOR SMART UTILITIES Introduction Smart Grid Initiatives for Electric Utility, Fiber Planning and 5G rollout for Telcos , Vegetation Management using Lidar/Drone imagery via AI/ML systems , Advanced Asset Identification and Management using AI/ML , Building of Organizational dashboards using big data and analytics software.

Course Outcomes:

  • On completion of the course, the student is expected to
    1. Know What constitutes a Utility GIS and why they are different from a typical GIS implementation
    2. Know organization of the utility sector (electric, gas, telco, water) can benefit
    3. Understand Importance of System (various software/hardware), Data (to be modelled and collected), Business process (to make GIS work for the organization) and People (to train, mentor the end users
