IC FABRICATION IC classification – fundamentals of monolithic IC technology – basic planar processes – fabrication of typical circuit – Fabrication of diodes, resistance, capacitance and FETs.

SPECIAL ICs(8+1 SKILL) 555 Timer – Functional block, characteristics – IC NE/SE 566 Voltage Controlled Oscillator – IC NE/SE 565 Phase Locked Loop – Analog multiplier and Divider IC AD633.

Unit V

SIGNAL CONDITIONING CIRCUITS V/I and I/V converters.- differential amplifier Instrumentation amplifier -S/H circuit – DAC and ADC characteristics – D/A converter (R- 2R ladder and weighted resistor types) – A/D converter (Flash and Successive approximation types)- Design of signal conditioning circuit for RTD and strain Gauge.

  1. Explain the IC fabrication process and discuss the fabrication of active and passive components. (L2)
  2. Compute the gain and output voltage of the given Op-Amp circuits. (L3)
  3. Explain the internal functional blocks and applications of ICs 555, 566, 565, and AD633 . (L2)
  4. Explain the operation of voltage regulator ICs namely LM78XX, LM79XX, LM317 and LM723.(L2)
  5. Explain the operation and design of various signal conditioning circuits. (L2)
