Unit I

PN JUNCTION DEVICES 9 PN junction diode -structure, operation and V-I characteristics, diffusion and transition capacitance -Clipping & Clamping circuits – Rectifiers – Half Wave and Full Wave Rectifier- Display devices- LED, Laser diodes, Zener diode characteristics- Zener diode Reverse characteristics – Zener diode as regulator.

AMPLIFIERS 9 BJT small signal model – Analysis of CE, CB, CC amplifiers- Gain and frequency response -MOSFET small signal model- Analysis of CS and Source follower – Gain and frequency response- High frequency analysis.

FEEDBACK AMPLIFIERS AND OSCILLATORS 9 Advantages of negative feedback – voltage / current, series, Shunt feedback -positive feedback -Condition for oscillations, phase shift – Wien bridge, Hartley, Colpitts and Crystal oscillators.
