Course Objective:

  • To provide an overview of how computers are being used in mechanical component design
  • To understand the application of computers in various aspects of Manufacturing viz., Design, Proper planning, Manufacturing cost, Layout and Material Handling system.

Representation of curves- Hermite curve- Bezier curve- B-spline curves-rational curves-Techniques for surface modeling – surface patch- Coons and bicubic patches- Bezier and B-spline surfaces. Solid modeling techniques- CSG andB-rep

Cad Standards
Standards for computer graphics- Graphical Kernel System (GKS) – standards for exchange images-Open Graphics Library (OpenGL) – Data exchange standards – IGES, STEP, CALS etc. -communication standards.

  • CO4 Apply NC and CNC programming concepts to develop part programme for Lathe and Milling Machines
  • CO5 Summarize the different types of techniques used in Cellular Manufacturing and FMS
