SUBSONIC AND SUPERSONIC INTAKES 9 Performance of subsonic and supersonic intakes – Performance parameters – Sources of losses – Starting problem in supersonic intakes – Modes of operation of an external compression intake.

AXIAL AND RADIAL FLOW TURBINES 9 Elementary theory of axial flow turbine – Vortex theory – Choice of blade profile, pitch and chord – Estimation of stage performance – Overall turbine performance – Turbine Blade Cooling- Radial flow turbine – Operating Principle – Velocity Diagram and Applications.
