SOIL MECHANICS 6 Introduction to Soil Mechanics. Concept of Safe bearing capacity. Types of soil. Distribution of upward pressure in different types of soil.

DESIGN OF TIMBER BEAMS 9 Grading of timber. Permissible stresses. Design of solid timber beams. Madras terrace roof design.

ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF TIMBER TRUSSES 12 Analysis of plane trusses. Introduction to Determinate and Indeterminate plane trusses. Analysis of simply supported and cantilevered trusses by method of joints and method of sections. Analysis and design of timber trusses.
