OBJECTIVE:
To train the students to have sound working knowledge on different types of mass transfer equipments.

LIST OF EXPERIMENTS

  • Separation of binary mixture using Simple distillation
  • Separation of binary mixture using Steam distillation
  • Separation of binary mixture using Packed column distillation
  • Measurement of diffusivity
  • Liquid-liquid extraction
  • Drying characteristics of Vacuum Dryer
  • Drying characteristics of Tray dryer
  • Drying characteristics of Rotary dryer
  • Water purification using ion exchange columns
  • Mass transfer characteristics of Rotating disc contactor
  • Estimation of mass/heat transfer coefficient for cooling tower
  • Demonstration of Gas – Liquid absorption

OUTCOME:
Students will acquire knowledge on the determination of important data for the design and operation of the process equipments like distillation, extraction, diffusivity, drying principles which are having wide applications in various industries
