PUMPS AND ACTUATORS: Classification of hydraulic pumps, Pumping theory Construction and working of gear, vane, piston, fixed and variable displacement pumps., Pump performance, Selection factors, Numerical problems on pumps, Classification of cylinders – single and double acting cylinder, Symbolic representation of hydraulic actuators, Mounting arrangements, cushioning, special types of cylinders, problems on cylinders, Classification of hydraulic motors, Construction and working of gear, vane, and piston motors, Theoretical torque, power, flow rate, and hydraulic motor performance. 10 Hours (L1, L2, L3)

CONTROL COMPONENTS AND CIRCUIT DESIGN OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS: Classification of control valves, Directional Control Valves (DCV): symbolic representation, constructional features of poppet, sliding spool, rotary type valves, solenoid and pilot operated DCV, shuttle valve, and check valves, Pressure Control Valves (PCV): types, direct operated types and pilot operated types, Flow Control Valves: compensated and non-compensated FCV, needle valve, temperature compensated, pressure compensated, pressure and temperature compensated FCV, Symbolic representation of DCV, PCV, and FCV.
