Suggested Student Activities:

Other than the classroom and laboratory learning, following are the suggested student-related co-curricular activities which can be undertaken to accelerate the attainment of the various outcomes in this course: Students should conduct following activities in group and prepare reports of about 5 pages for each activity, also collect/record physical evidences for their (students) portfolio which will be useful for their placement interviews:

  1. Identify the various types of electrodes use in electrosurgical unit and develop a chart.
  2. Visit a nearby hospital and prepare the report on following basis;
    1. Location of the physiotherapy department and equipment.
    2. Problems frequently encountered in therapeutic equipment.
    3. Name of the equipment, manufacturer, cost, technical specifications of equipment.
  3. Prepare a troubleshooting chart of diathermy machine.
  4. Prepare a presentation of ultrasound therapy with its new trends and technologies.
  5. Prepare the chart of different transducer and electrodes in therapy machines.
  6. Prepare the chart for different electrodes related to Electro-surgical unit.
  7. Prepare a presentation on accident prevention.
  8. Use different method of accident preventions.

Suggested Special Instructional Strategies:

These are sample strategies, which the teacher can use to accelerate the attainment of the various outcomes in this course:

  1. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) may be used to teach various topics/sub topics.
  2. L in item No. 4 does not mean only the traditional lecture method, but different types of teaching methods and media that are to be employed to develop the outcomes.
  3. About 15-20% of the topics/sub-topics which is relatively simpler or descriptive in nature is to be given to the students for self-directed learning and assess the development of the COs through classroom presentations (see implementation guidelines for details)
  4. With respect to item No. 10, teachers need to ensure to create opportunities and provisions for co-curricular activities.
  5. Guide students in undertaking micro-projects.
  6. Correlate subtopics with power system utility and electrical equipments.
  7. Use proper equivalent analogy to explain different concepts.
  8. Use Flash/Animations to explain various theorems in circuit analysis.
  9. Use open source PSpice/Matlab models to explain different concepts of electric circuit.
  10. Use the tutorial time period for micro projects, students suggested activities.
