Sensors and Transducers: Introduction, Classification of Transducers, Advantages and Disadvantages of Electrical Transducers, Transducers Actuating Mechanisms, Resistance Transducers, Variable Inductance Transducers, Capacitive Transducers, Piezoelectric Transducers, Hall Effect Transducers, Thermoelectric Transducers, Photoelectric Transducers. B

Module 2

Sensors and Transducers (continued): Stain Gages, Load Cells, Proximity Sensors, Pneumatic Sensors, Light Sensors, Tactile Sensors, Fiber Optic Transducers, Digital Transducers, Recent Trends-Smart Pressure Transmitters, Selection of Sensors, Rotary-Variable Differential Transformer, Synchros and Resolvers, Induction Potentiometers, Micro Electromechanical Systems.

Question paper pattern:

  • The question paper will have ten questions.
  • Each full question is for 20 marks.
  • There will be 2 full questions (with a maximum of three sub questions in one full question) from each module.
  • Each full question with sub questions will cover the contents under a module.
  • Students will have to answer 5 full questions, selecting one full question from each module.
