INTRODUCTION: Introduction, Historical developments, construction materials, impact of biomaterials, strength of biological tissues, performance of implants, thermal treatments, surface improvements, sterilization, Stainless steels, Cobalt-Chromium alloys, Titanium based alloys, Nitinol, other metals, metallic Corrosion, biological tolerance of implant metals, Carbons, Alumina, Yttria stabilized zirconia, analysis of ceramic surfaces.
