Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to
- Analyze the stresses and strains in mechanical components, and understand, identify and quantify failure modes for mechanical parts.
- Describe the basic machine elements used in machine design.
- Design machine elements to withstand the loads and deformations for a given application, while considering additional specifications.
- Develop the approach to design the component under realistic conditions.
- Design Machine element against static loading
- Develop the ability to design the component under realistic conditions

- Study of stress strain diagram and modes of failure 2 Hrs
- Study of motion characteristics and mechanisms 2 Hrs
- Construction of velocity and acceleration diagram using instantaneous centre method 2 Hrs
- Construction of CAM profiles 2 Hrs
- Design and drawing sheets of Cotter joint 2 Hrs
- Design and drawing sheets of Knuckle joint 2 Hrs
