Course outcomes:
At the end of the course, students will be able to
- Comprehend application of passive and active safety for vehicle.
- Describe importance of ergonomics in automotive safety and human response to impact
- Design vehicle safety systems
- Describe various regulations of vehicle safety and safety testing methods.
Unit I
Introduction
Design of the body for safety, energy equation, engine location, deceleration of vehicle inside passenger compartment, deceleration on impact with stationary and movable obstacle, concept of crumble zone, safety sandwich construction.
