Course Outcomes:

Students will be able to achieve & demonstrate the following COs on completion of course based learning

  1. Use the beam warping machine to produce a warper beam with releavant process parameters.
  2. Use the sectional warping machine to produce the required warp pattern in the weaver’s beam.
  3. Prepare size paste for given yarn type and count.
  4. Produce the weaver’s beam by setting the relevant process parameters of the sizing machine.
  5. Use quality checking parameters to ensure the required quality of sized yarn.

Unit I

Principles of Direct Warping 1.1 Objectives and significance of warping process, Types of warping, and importance of each: Beam warping, sectional warping, single-end warping, ball warping, Differentiate between various warping processes. Criteria of selection of sectional warping and beam warping process. Types of yarn packages: overend withdrawal and side withdrawal. 1.2 Direct warping: Passage of yarn through the direct warping machine. Creels: Types, merits, and demerits of each, Tensioners: necessity and types. 1.3 Headstock components: Stop motion- its significance on the quality of the beam, Expanding comb and their types, Pressure drum, Doffing-manual and automatic, Defects in warping beams- uneven density, ridges, bulged or sunken selvages, nonuniform length. 1.4 Calculation: Production, Number of beams in a set, Number of ends in a beam, efficiency from given parameters.
