  3. Use relevant method to find moisture content, ash content and total dissolved solids in the given starch sample.
  4. Use relevant chemicals to identify the size on textile material.
  5. * Use acid desizing and enzyme desizing method to remove size on the given textile.
  6. * Use open bath scouring method to improve the absorbency of the given cotton fabric.
  7. * Use pressure boil scouring method to improve the absorbency of the given cotton fabric.
  8. * Use relevant scouring method to remove hydrophobic impurity from the given polyester and its blend.
  9. Use relevant degumming method to remove Sericin from the given silk fabric.
  10. * Use hypochlorite bleaching method to improve whiteness of the given cotton fabric.
  11. * Use hydrogen peroxide bleaching method to improve whiteness of the given cotton fabric.
  12. Use combined scouring and bleaching method to improve absorbency and whiteness of the given cotton fabric.
  13. Use relevant bleaching method for the given polyester and its blends.
  14. * Use open bath bleaching method for the given wool and silk fabric.
  15. * Use hank mercerization method for the given cotton hank.
  16. * Determine Barium Activity Number (BAN) of the given mercerized goods.
  17. Note : Out of above suggestive LLOs – ‘*’ Marked Practicals (LLOs) Are mandatory. Minimum 80% of above list of lab experiment are to be performed. Judicial mix of LLOs are to be performed to achieve desired outcomes.

Micro Project / Self Learning

Assignment

  • List the acids used in various textile pre-treatments. Write the role of chemicals in a particular process. State its properties. Suggest alternative chemicals.
  • List the alkali used in various textile pre-treatments. Write the role of chemicals in a particular process. State its properties. Suggest alternative chemicals.

Micro project

  • Find the relation between various bleaching parameters on the whiteness and strength of any four qualities of the fabric. Present the results.
  • Video preparation: – Visit the local industry and prepare a video of any one machine used for the preparation of fabric.
  • Comparison: Compare the effect on dyeing of mercerize and un-mercerize fabric dyed with reactive dye.
  • Comparison: Compare the effect on dyeing of bleached and unbleached samples dyed with reactive dye.
  • Collection of samples: – Visit the local industry and collect defective samples or photos of them. Prepare a presentation incorporating the photos and types of defects.
  • Size identification: – Visit the local industry to collect the various size fabric samples. Identify the size present on it and write a report.
