Course Outcomes:

Students will be able to achieve & demonstrate the following COs on completion of course based learning

  1. Use suitable units of textile material to estimate output of various machines.
  2. Solve industry-based technological problems using the basic concept of Mathematical Statistics.

Practical / Tutorial Experiences

  1. *Use conversion chart to convert textile length & weight parameter from Imperial system to metric system & vice versa .
  2. Calculate round off errors , Approximate Values, Decimal Places and Significant figures from the given data.
  3. *Compute the mean,combined arithmatic mean, mode and median for given textile data.
  4. *Calculate the Standard deviation ,variance & coefficient of variation for given textile material.
  5. *Use bar graphs, multiple bar graphs & pie charts to compare the given various data.
  6. Use sub-divided bar graphs& percentage bar graphs to compare the textile related data .
  7. *Use ogive curve & & histogram method to find median & mode.
  8. *Calculate the values for the central line, the control limits of mean chart & range chart & comment on the state of control .
  9. *Use scatter diagram of correlation coefficient for the given data & interpret result .
  10. *Use spearman’s rank correlation method & Karl Pearson’s correlation method to calculate coefficient from the given data & interpret the result.
  11. *Use regression coefficients to Calculate correlation coefficient ,equation of line of regression of y on x & x on y for the given data & interprete result .
  12. Calculate the speed and acceleration of shuttle used in weaving machine .
  13. *Calculate the revolution per minute of output roller connected to the end of spur gear train.
  14. Estimate the surface speed of output roller driven by belt and pulley system .
  15. Calculate the production and efficiency of machine based on given parameters.
  16. Note : Out of above suggestive LLOs – ‘*’ Marked Practicals (LLOs) Are mandatory. Minimum 80% of above list of lab experiment are to be performed. Judicial mix of LLOs are to be performed to achieve desired outcomes.

Micro Project / Self Learning

Micro project

  • Prepare chart by collecting photographs of various applications of simple, compound gears in textile area. Make a presentation including short videos.
  • Prepare chart of different diagrams showing applications of various belts & make a presentation including short videos.
  • Develop the chart of various units of measurement in textile material.
  • Collect the Data of Marks obtained by your class in mid sem test. Compute the mean,median and mode of the data and interpret the result using the free open source software ORANGE.
  • Prepare a chart graphs like bar graph , multiple bar graph, divided bar graph, percentage bar graph ,line graph, frequency polygon curve and pie chart.
  • Collect the Data of Marks obtained by your class in first sem exam. Compute the variance and coefficient of variation of the data and interpret the result using the free open source software ORANGE.
  • Collect Model on quality control analysis, energy efficiency assessment, environmental monitoring, and process optimization, for these models, analyze data and calculate variance and standard deviation, make a presentation including short videos.

Assignment

  • Compares various set of observations by using line graph, frequency polygon curve .
  • Prepare a chart of various types of gears like simple, compound and Epicyclical gears , PIV gears, Planetary gear, differential gear .
  • Collect at least 10 examples based on real world applications of standard deviation/variance.
  • Collect at least 10 examples based on real world applications of quality control chart.
  • Note :
    Micro-projects are group-based activity (Batch size is 5 to 6 ).
