Suggested Student Activities:

Other than the classroom and laboratory learning, following are the suggested student-related co-curricular activities which can be undertaken to accelerate the attainment of the various

outcomes in this course: Students should conduct following activities in group and prepare reports of about 5 pages for each activity, also collect/record physical evidences for their (students) portfolio which will be useful for their placement interviews:

  1. Student will use free online resources for production management and solve online case studies
  2. Student will use spreadsheets and software such as Microsoft Project to study various production activities
  3. Student will carry out comparative study of various maintenance schedules of different apparel units.
  4. Student will prepare power point presentation of various production management and industrial engineering tools using online resources.

Suggested Special Instructional Strategies:

These are sample strategies, which the teacher can use to accelerate the attainment of the various outcomes in this course:

  1. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) may be used to teach various topics/sub topics.
  2. L in item No. 4 does not mean only the traditional lecture method, but different types of teaching methods and media that are to be employed to develop the outcomes.
  3. About 15-20% of the topics/sub-topics which is relatively simpler or descriptive in nature is to be given to the students for self-directed learning and assess the development of the COs through classroom presentations (see implementation guideline for details).
  4. With respect to item No. 10, teachers need to ensure to create opportunities and provisions for co-curricular activities.
  5. Guide students in undertaking micro-projects.
  6. Correlate subtopics with garment manufacturing facility.
  7. Use proper equivalent analogy to explain different concepts.
  8. Use Fl ash/Animations to explain various theorems in circuit analysis.
  9. Use open source to explain different concepts of project management.
