Course Objectives:
- To provide knowledge on wood working.
- To familiarize Joints and fabrication of furniture by using machinery
Course Outcomes:
On completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Prepare joints used in furniture making
- Fabricate furniture with machines
- Build Upholstery
- Prepare estimates
Module 1:
- Demonstrate and practice different Joints in furniture -1.Dove tail framed joint 2. keyed mortise & ten on joint with mitered face
- Two side mitered Tenon & Mortise joint, Secret dove tail joint (single)
- Table scarf joint
Module 2:
- Demonstrate and practice furniture fabrication with the help of machines – 1.Stool, Teapoy 2.coffee table
- Demonstrate and practice furniture fabrication with Dining chair, Bed side table, Armed chair
- Demonstrate and practice furniture fabrication with Computer table Chair
Module 3:
- Build Upholstery of Chair using appropriate wood working machine
Module 4:
- Estimation & costing of – Stool, Teapoy, coffee table, Dining chair ,Bed side table
- Estimation & costing of – Armed chair, computer table, Chair
