Objectives:

  • To import practical exposure to the metrology equipment
  • To conduct experiments and understand the working of the same.

Prerequisites: Theoretical exposure to Metrology and machine tools.

  • Use of gear teeth vernier calipers for checking the chordal addendum and chordal height of the spur gear.
  • Machine tool alignment of test on the lathe.
  • Tool makers microscope and its application
  • Angle and taper measurements by bevel protractor and sine bars.
  • Use of spirit level and optical flats in finding the flatness of surface plate.
  • Thread measurement by 2-wire and 3-wire methods.
