Course Objectives:

The students will be able to:

  • Understand the roles of managers and historical evolution of various approaches to the study of management.
  • Demonstrate the process of planning which can be used as a tool for decision-making in organizations.

  • Implement leadership practices towards the management and development of people within organizations.

Personnel (Human Resource) Management: Acquisition of manpower-functions and objectives of personnel management, manpower planning, Job analysis and evaluation, Induction, Orientation, Training and development, Maintenance of human resource. Industrial relations, Trade Unionism.

Module 3

Entrepreneurship and Project Management: EntrepreneurshipTypes, Growth, functions, qualities, Project Planning-project implementation, monitoring and control, evaluation strategies, Gantt charts, Critical path method, Performance evaluation and review technique, application of network techniques.

Materials Management: Purchasing, make or buy decision, stores management, inventory control, spare parts management, value engineering. Marketing: Marketing research, marketing management, consumer behavior and market promotion.

Question paper pattern:

  • The question paper will have ten questions.
  • Each full Question consisting of 20 marks
  • There will be 2 full questions (with a maximum of four sub questions) from each module.
  • Each full question will have sub questions covering a.ll the topics under a module.
  • The students will have to answer 5 full questions, selecting one full question from each module.
