Network Topology: Introduction and basic definitions of Elementary graph theory Tree, cut-set, loop analysis. Formation of Incidence Matrices. Primitive network- Impedance form and admittance form, Formation of Y Bus by Singular Transformation. Ybus by Inspection Method. Illustrative examples.

Module 2

Load Flow Studies: Introduction, Classification of buses. Power flow equation, Operating Constraints, Data for Load flow, Gauss Seidal iterative method. Illustrative examples.

Question paper pattern:

  • The question paper will have ten questions.
  • Each full question is for 20 marks.
  • There will be 2 full questions (with a maximum of three sub questions in one full question) from each module.
  • Each full question with sub questions will cover the contents under a module.
  • Students will have to answer 5 full questions, selecting one full question from each module.
  • Module 1 Y Bus Matrix size limited to 3X3 for illustrative examples. Module 2 NR Method limited to 3 bus system with one iteration for illustrative examples.
