I CARPENTRY PRACTICES: CONTACT HOURS—-39
Study of the joints in roofs, doors, windows and furniture available in Polytechnic
Hands-on-exercise:
- Demonstration of different wood working machines/ Power Tools of different wood working process, like planning, marking, Chiseling, Grooving, turning of wood etc.
- Exercise on One simple Wood work joints like half lap joint, Mortise and tennon, dovetail joint and Bridle joint by sawing, planning and cutting.
- Measure quantity of wood required for a given task.
II. FITTING SHOP:CONTACT HOURS—-39
Hands-on-exercise
- Demonstration of different fitting tools and drilling machines and power tool
- Demonstration of different operations like chipping, filing, drilling, tapping, cutting, etc.
- Exercise on One simple fitting job involving practice of chipping, filing, drilling, tapping, cutting etc.
- Making of male and female gauges with V joint, rectangular joint and semi circular joint
- Prepare utility articles like screw drivers, hinges, hexagonal nut.
- Measure quantity of metal required for a given task
