UNIT-I: ELEMENTS OF FABRIC STRUCTURE 06 Hrs

Yarn count, Thread Sett, Yarn crimp ,Fabric weight, Cover factor, Yarn twist, Weave and its representation, Classification of woven fabrics, Use of the design, Repeat of the design, Drawing-in denting, draft, lifting plan, Types of drafts, Construction of drafts and lifting plans, Methods of indicating drafts and lifting plans.

UNIT-II: ELEMENTARY WEAVES 08 Hrs

Plain weave and its construction, properties and end uses , Simple twill weaves and its construction, properties and end uses ,Sateen and satin weaves , Regular sateen and satins , Irregular sateens and satins, properties and end uses.

UNIT-III: PLAIN WEAVE DERIVATIVES 04 Hrs

UNIT-IV: TWILL WEAVE DERIVATIVES 12 Hrs

Pointed/Wavy twills, Herringbone twills, Elongated twills, combined twills, Angle of twills, Elongated and Steep twills, Construction of diamond designs and diaper designs, Twill Weaves constructed on satin and sateen bases, combined twills, corkscrew twills weaves. UNIT-V: SIMPLE FANCY WEAVES 12 Hrs

Principles of designing honey comb weave, Types of honey comb weaves, Ordinary honey comb weaves, Brighton honey comb weaves. Huckaback weaves. Mock Leno Weaves. Distorted thread effects, Crepe weaves. Bedford cords , Wadded Bedford cords , Welts and Piques. Applications and properties of Fancy weaves.

UNIT-VI: COLOUR THEORY 10 Hrs

Light and colour phenomena, Physical basis of colour. Primary, secondary and tertiary colours, Complementary colour, Colour measurement, Pigment theory of colour, Modification of colours, Colours in combination, Colour contrast, Contrast of hue, Contrast of tone ,Colour harmony, Munsell and Brewster Color Circle. Arrangement of figures: unit repeat, Drop principle, Satin, Ogee, Diamond. Colour & weave effects: Stripes, Dogs tooth, Birds eye, step pattern, shepherd checks, Hounds tooth.
