UNIT I: BLOW MOULDING 12 HRS
A specialised area of moulding adopted for manufacturing small containers, Advantages of blow moulding over the other methods. Single impression mould without core, Parison. Different methods of manufacturing parison. Blow mouldable plastics, Polystyrene, SAN, Polycarbonate, LDPE, HDPE,UDPE,PET,PVC,PP. Hoop’s ratio, Blow up ratio, Extrusion blow moulding, Continuous and intermittent. Stretch blow moulding process, biaxial molecular orientation, advantages and limitations. Construction of mould and machines. Manufacturing of multi layered components.
UNIT II: EXTRUSION OF PLASTICS 04 HRS
Extrusion process, Material preparation and machine construction. Mandrel and material flow, Relation between tube-die, Mandrel and component size. Manufacturing of multi layered tubular components. Advantages and limitations
UNIT III: ROTARY MOULDING 06 HRS

UNIT IV: THERMO FORMING 06 HRS
Technology to produce articles used for packing , refrigerator parts and automobile parts, Process economy. Principle of thermo forming, Using plastic sheets. Types of thermo form -simple vacuum forming-construction of vacuum forming dies. Pressure thermo formingconstruction of pressure thermo forming. Construction of thermo forming machine and its functioning. Advantages and limitations.
UNIT V: METAL DIE CASTING 08 HRS
History of die casting process applied for soft metals and steel die casting materials their alloys and their composition and applications, classification of die casting metals. Die casting machines – hot chamber- cold chambers construction, material loading arrangement, functioning and application, die casting sequence. Vacuum die casting and its sequence. Steel die casting advantages and limitations of die casting.
